Salt in 3kg chips
Is it worth to use salt?
Salt in chips is an inexpensive and effective way of supplying chinchillas with micronutrients. The Wieliczka salt licks are derived directly from the deposit and are of green colour of life. Small chips are placed in cages and are administered through voluntary ingestion. Salt licks should be administered throughout the year, and chinchillas consume enough salt needed by their body at a given moment.
In the case of chinchillas, salt:
- improves appetite and better utilisation of nutrients,
- prevents diseases caused by micronutrient deficiency in animal feed,
- influences a long-time improvement of fertility and increases the content of micronutrients in mother’s milk.
- Salt is also used in the preparation of the granulate, however in a small amount of about 0.2%. Feeding with salted hay is completely unacceptable. The administration of salt in such a form results in a systematic poisoning of the body, and leads to acute poisoning in chinchillas.
Salt in chips can be administered throughout the year, and it is especially recommended in the areas of acidic soils and soils poor in micronutrients
